Description

The 1-ounce American Buffalo gold coin is the first 24-carat gold coin struck by the United States Mint. The 24-carat gold coin features a design based on the original 1913 Type I buffalo nickel designed by James Earl Fraser.

Obverse

The obverse shows a portrait of an Indian, the inscription “Liberty”, the embossing date and the designer’s initials “F”. 

Reverse

The reverse side shows the North American bison, as well as the lettering ‘United States of America’, ‘E pluribus unum’ and ‘In God we Trust’ Below the bison is the denominationof $50 and stamped with the fineness of “1 Oz 999.9 Fine Gold”.
