Description

Introduced in 1979, the gold Canadian Maple Leaf was the world’s first legal tender coin containing 99.99% pure gold. On the obverse the coin is decorated with the national symbol of Canada – the maple leaf. A seal of authenticity is placed right next to the handle of the leaf. On the reverse is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in relief in right profile without crown.
